Bike Riding

An activity I'm good at is bike riding. It's fun and interesting. I go about 20 mph on my bike. I'll never know what I will see when I go bike riding. My family goes on bike rides everyday during the evenings when it's nice and cool. I like to be the leader of the group. We go around our neighborhood, and around the country side where there's not many cars. When I go bike riding I get a good exercise, so I go bike riding for about 45 minutes a day. Bike riding is very easy. It's all about pedaling and controlling the handle bars. Like driving, but moving both feet. Another reason why I love bike riding is because I can explore a little bit. Get to see things I don't get to see when driving a car. One day I went bike riding with my boyfriend and I saw a snake. I wanted to touch it, but I was afraid it might be poisonous. So now when I go bike riding I sometimes bring a camera with me so I can get a great photo of something cool. That's why I love to go bike riding.

My Brother's Great Jump

My vivid memory of a family member would be of my little brother. We were living in Fresno at the time in a two story apartment. My brother was eight years old. He was very playful and had lots of friends. He would always go out and play with his friends until the end of every evening. One day he was not allowed to go outside. The reason why was because my father wasn't home and my older sister who was in charge did not allow my brother to go outside. He was sent to his room and was told to do his homework. My brother was was still determined to go play with his friends. So he worked up the courage to jump out of the apartment window which was two stories high. He had a great fall and broke his ankle. My sister panicked and called 911. We all hurried and also called our father. When my father got to the hospital, he was furious and at the same time, worried about his son. My brother got out of the hospital that same night. When we all got home my father was so disappointed with my brother. But he was just glad that my brother was ok except for the fact that he had a broken ankle. Till this day we still laugh and joke about the story of my brother's great jump.

''No Talking''

When I was in 5th grade, I was attended John Bouroughs Elementary School in Fresno. I was about ten years old at the time. My teacher's was Mr.Peratt, a tall balding man with a deep voice, and a big smile. My best friend in those days was Sam, and she and I always stuck together whether at school and at home, facing our troubles and joys together. During recess we walked around the school yard talking and watching the others play ball games. Within Mr. Peratt's class though "reading time" became a time when we could find our own comfortable place to sit and read alone. Naturally, Sam and I always sat where the teacher couldn't watch us very well, so that way we could talk--not read. One day during "reading time", the teacher must have heard our little voices and quietly approached us. He asked us "what is all this chattering about"? We told him "nothing". This excuse didn't satisfy Mr. Peratt, and we sensed trouble. As punishment, he required us to write 100 times: "I will not talk during reading". We only had until the next morning to turn this writing assignment in or we would have to forfeit recess and our lunch period. Luckily, Sam and I finished and never again did we talk during reading. Well, at least not loud enough for the teacher to hear. While it didn't stop our enjoyment of talking, it did demotivate my desire to write repetitive essays in school.
